Top 10 Fall Connection List

Top 10 Fall Connection List

As we shift into fall, we feel the transition of letting go and embracing change. It’s trendy to be excited for “sweater season”, pumpkin spiced hot drinks (and spice soaps!) and all things cozy.  To spend time in nature in fall, really is a beautiful time not to be missed. The colourful leaves, cool crisp mornings and the crunch of fallen leaves on a walking path are some of my favourite parts of autumn. When we are in tune with the season, our bodies adjust to the rhythm and we are then able to feel our best.

Push back against the disconnect in our lives today and connect with nature.

Harvest is a very busy time on our farm, but you will still find me making time to find those quiet moments in nature and connecting with this beautiful season. Here is my top 10 fall connection list for you:

  1. Harvest herbs from your garden. Collect herbs like sage, thyme, rosemary, and mint before the first frost and dry them for future use. We have already had a few early frosts in our area, but my pot of herbs close to the house is still being used.

  2. Make a fall bouquet including sunflowers, asters, wheat, colourful grasses.

  3. Take pride in harvesting and preserving food for the colder months ahead- I'm buys making batches of salsa and tomato sauce over here.

  4. Create warming herbal teas using fall-inspired herbs like wild rose hips, chamomile, or dandelion root. These teas can help keep you cozy on cool evenings. Find my instructions here on how to make Rose Hip Tea.

  5. Go for a walk along a path with fallen, crisp leaves. Even better in the early morning when everything is dewy.

  6. Deeply inhale the scent of a deciduous forest with its fallen leaves embracing the earth’s ground.

  7. Feel the colder air in the evenings, and watch for the full moon (Did you catch the Harvest moon?)

  8. Listen to the migratory birds as they fly south, and look up at them!

  9. Visualize preparing to send your energy down into its roots, noticing what you need deep down inside.

  10. Embrace fall flavours and cook seasonal dishes using ingredients like apples, squash, cinnamon and nutmeg. Some of my delicious soups (and soaps!) includes these fall favourites.

I hope you enjoy this seasonal change and all that nature has to offer us in autumn.
