Our goal is to help people care for their skin naturally by reconnecting them with the power of local plants.
We’re passionate about increasing awareness of local plant life and how it can be comfortably and effectively woven into everyday life. Rooted in natural skincare, mindful living, sustainability, and traditional practices — we believe in a simple, intentional approach to beauty and wellness that supports aging beautifully.

It's so Nice to meet you!
We’re a husband and wife team from central Alberta, Canada, raising two adventurous young boys and farming on our generational grain farm. Prairie Soap Shack began in 2019 while Jess was on maternity leave from her 15-year nursing career — where she specialized in wound care and skin integrity. What started as a passion for natural skincare and reconnecting with the land has since grown into a full-time family-run business. You can read more about our story on the blog here.

We use Traditional techniques
We create our soaps, herbal balms and skin care using time-honoured methods rooted in centuries of tradition. Each product is made with the highest quality oils and is always free from synthetic fragrances and artificial colors. We prioritize local sourcing — often foraging wild herbs, plants, and resins or growing them ourselves in our organic garden.
Guided by generational wisdom, herbalism training, and natural skincare formulation courses, we bring ancient practices into modern daily rituals. Our hope is to inspire you to reconnect with nature and embrace a more mindful, conscious, and nourishing way of living.

Our products are zero Waste & Toxin-free
Our products are thoughtfully crafted to be zero-waste and packaged in eco-friendly, recyclable materials — with just one bar of soap replacing multiple plastic bottles in your shower. We care deeply about what goes on and into our bodies, and we’re committed to creating healthy, sustainably-made products that are safe for you and your family. Through our work, we hope to inspire a deeper appreciation for nature, a more sustainable lifestyle, and a mindful awareness of the beautiful connections we all share with the earth.

We are committed to sustainability
We are committed to sustainability at every level — from our packaging to our ingredients. Our soaps are boxed in recyclable materials, while our skincare products are housed in eco-conscious glass jars, tins, and paperboard tubes to help reduce plastic waste. We believe it’s our responsibility to care for the planet through thoughtful choices. Our ingredients meet strict EcoCert and COSMOS standards, ensuring they are natural, safe, and trustworthy. We never use synthetic fragrances or artificial colorants. Many of our botanicals are either wildcrafted with care near our farm with respect for local ecosystems or organically grown from seed to harvest in our own garden — with sustainability always at the heart of what we do.

Our passions & values
Our interests and personal values carry through our lifestyle and into our business core values. We are passionate about prairie herbalism and nature, outdoor living, rural life, gardening, homegrown cooking and nutrition, environment sustainability & raising two resilient & kind humans for the next generation. These values inspire our way of living and also our products and brand. We'd love to connect with like-minded people on social media!
Much inspiration comes from long talks with my mom and lessons learned from my grandmother.
Thanks for being here,
Jess
